Job Summary
JW Williams, an AECOM Company is seeking Fitters / Non-Code Welders for our fabrication shop in Waller, TX for our Dayshift.
This job family lays out, fits, and fabricates metal components to assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames, bridge parts, and pressure vessels, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements.
Position Description or Typical Responsibilities:
+ Read specifications or blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, or sizes of materials required.
+ Bolt aligned structural steel members in position for permanent riveting, bolting, or welding into place.
+ Fasten structural steel members to hoist cables, using chains, cables, or rope.
+ Hoist steel beams, girders, or columns into place, using cranes or signaling hoisting equipment operators to lift and position structural steel members.
+ Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces, using metal shears, torches, or welding equipment.
+ Force steel components into final positions, using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, or hand tools.
+ Pull, push, or pry steel components into approximate positions for bolting into place.
+ Unload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting as needed.
+ Assemble hoisting equipment or rigging, such as cables, pulleys, or hooks, to move heavy equipment or materials.
+ Fabricate metal parts, such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders, according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
+ Dismantle structures or equipment.
+ Ride on girders or other structural steel members to position them or use rope to guide them into position.
+ Welding of separators, glycol absorbers, piping large and heavy wall vessels and flow coils. Must be able to perform quality x-ray welds on a consistent basis.
+ Welding low pressure products such as heaters, reboilers, glycol coolers, liquid accumulators, building skids and natural draft combustors
+ Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler
+ Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment
+ Cuts workpiece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife
+ Melts lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to joint or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form
+ Installs or repairs equipment, such as lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings
+ Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications
+ Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments
+ Removes rough spots from workpiece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper
+ Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
+ Single hand welding
+ Pipe Fitting
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
+ Attention to detail and ability to make clean lines and cuts when welding
+ Read and interpret blueprints; understand how the final product should look
+ Identify flaws in welds or structural imperfections in the metal
+ Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
+ Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
+ Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
+ Knowledge of the properties and characteristics of metals used for cutting, welding and forming objects and of various welding fluxes and rods.
+ Knowledge of safety precautions related to occupational hazards, procedures and practices of the trade.
+ Skilled in identifying the proper power and hand tools in the safest possible manner and various equipment.
Minimum Requirements
+ Technical training preferred but not required.
+ Minimum of 3 years of fitting beveled fittings together to be welded out on a pipe spool.
+ Minimum of 3 years of plate welding experience.
+ Ability to clear a 3G Plate weld assessment screening with 1G Rollout pipe with visual and bend acceptance
+ Mentor less experienced welders.
+ Ability to work a day shift, Monday-Friday from 6AM-4PM on average, but up to 60 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Advanced Mathematics Skills.
+ Advanced Knowledge of welding symbols, Advanced Fitting Skills and Advanced blueprint reading skills.
+ Ability to work with complicated welding tools like ox-fuel, plasma, mag-drills, etc.
+ Proficient with torches and plasmas. Must be able to read and use a tape measure.
+ Maintain a minimum of 95% acceptability in NDE test of welds, be the first inspector of all welds
Additional Information:
+ Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
+ This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
+ Relocation and per diem support are not available for this position.
+ Must be able to clear a weld assessment screening.
+ Due to the inherent dangers associated with construction activities, including performance of activities in or around confined spaces, operating equipment as well as Welder specific duties such as the ability to read, analyze and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations; candidates must possess the ability to read, comprehend, and communicate in English. The necessity of this requirement will ensure that all employees fully understand safety-related instructions/postings (i.e.; Project Rules & Regulations, Job Hazard Analyses, etc.), verbal communications and emergency announcements, and project-related communications with all employees. This requirement does not restrict casual/unrelated project conversation in languages other than English.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
